The beginnings
of Tourism
in Braies:
The tourism of Braies is determined since the begin- nings of the Bath-Hotels: "Old Braies", "New Braies" and "Braies Lake".
Bath Old Braies was built in the year 1490, when the wife of the last Lord of Görz, Paula, was healed through a bath in the water of Braies.
In the 17th century the Bath-Hotel was too small for all the tourists, who wanted to make a cure in the healing water and so the annexes: "Amalienhof", "Gasthof Brückele" and "Plätzwiese" were built.
In the year 1901 the annexe "Gasthof Brückele" became a separate hotel, which since its beginnings has still retained the tradition of a little family business.
